Gisuru is a remote village in Eastern Burundi, near the Tanzanian border. Most homes are made of mud and thatch. Children walk barefoot, often miles, to reach water. Medical care is almost non-existent. One local clinic serves thousands—and it lacks even aspirin.
Malaria, infections, and childbirth complications are everyday realities here. Many children suffer from preventable illnesses. Most have never seen a doctor.
Yet the people of Gisuru have hope. And we are called to respond.
