The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;

Why Our Eye Camps Matter

Every day, millions of people across Africa live in needless darkness—unable to see their children’s faces, unable to work, and unable to live fully—simply because they cannot afford a simple cataract surgery.
In Uganda and neighboring nations, preventable blindness caused by cataracts, infections, and refractive errors affects tens of thousands of people, particularly in remote villages where hospitals are hours—or even days—away.

That is why our Free Eye Camps exist.

Through our mobile eye clinics and cataract surgery missions, Amigos Internacionales and our partner organization, Doctors on Mission International, bring specialized eye care directly to those forgotten by traditional healthcare systems.
Our team of volunteer ophthalmologists, nurses, and Christian medical professionals travels to the most underserved communities to offer
free eye checkups, cataract surgeries, eyeglasses, and treatment for common eye conditions.

For many, this is their first and only chance to see again.

When a blind grandmother opens her eyes and sees her grandchildren for the first time in years…
When a father can once again provide for his family after surgery…
When a young child receives glasses and can finally see the chalkboard in school—
that is why Eye Camps matter.

Our work goes beyond medicine.
Each camp is a
ministry of healing and hope, reflecting the compassion of Christ: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.” (Isaiah 9:2)

By offering both physical sight and spiritual encouragement, our Eye Camps illuminate entire communities—restoring not only vision, but dignity, confidence, and faith.
