Why This Outbreak Demands Immediate Action

The Bundibugyo strain of Ebola presents unique challenges. Although supportive care can improve survival, there is no widely approved targeted treatment for this strain. Every suspected case must be identified quickly to prevent additional infections.
Unlike many emergency responses that require deploying teams from overseas, our medical staff were already serving communities in East Africa. When the outbreak began, they responded immediately.
Working alongside local health authorities and trusted community leaders, our team is helping identify cases, train healthcare workers, educate families, and strengthen surveillance where it matters most.
