In Mulanje District, southern Malawi, food insecurity is not an abstract issue—it is a daily reality for many families. Rising food prices, unpredictable rains, and limited household income mean that too many children go to bed hungry.
Today, we are setting a clear and urgent goal:
To raise $1,000 to provide food support for vulnerable families in Malawi.
It is a modest target by global standards. But here in Mulanje, $1,000 can make a tangible and immediate difference.
Why This Matters Now
For many of the families we serve through Amigos International and Missionpoint Malawi, food insecurity is seasonal but severe. During lean months—before harvest—households often reduce meals from three per day to one. Children struggle to concentrate in school. Parents face impossible choices between food, school fees, and medical care.
This is not about dependency. It is about stabilization.
Short-term food support creates breathing room for families working hard to build long-term resilience through:
- School garden initiatives
- Organic farming training
- Youth agricultural programs
- Livelihood development projects
When a family has food today, they are stronger to plan for tomorrow

What $1,000 Can Do
With $1,000, we can:
- Provide staple food supplies (maize flour, beans, cooking oil) to approximately [insert number] households
- Support school feeding initiatives for vulnerable students
- Assist families participating in agricultural training while crops are still growing
- Prevent school dropouts caused by hunger
In Malawi, small resources stretch far when stewarded carefully and locally.
Growing Food, Growing Hope
Our school garden project—pictured above—is part of the long-term solution. Children are learning how to grow their own food. Adolescents are being trained in organic farming. Parents and teachers are working together to cultivate not only crops, but confidence and self-reliance.
But gardens take time to mature.
Right now, some families need immediate support while these sustainable solutions take root.

A Story Behind the Need
Recently, one parent shared quietly, “When there is no food at home, children cannot learn. They think only about hunger.”
That is why this $1,000 goal matters. It is not simply about food—it is about dignity, stability, and protecting the future of children in Mulanje.
A Shared Responsibility
At Amigos International and Missionpoint Malawi, we believe transformation happens when communities and partners walk together.
Local families are contributing labor. Youth are learning new skills. Schools are offering land and leadership. And international partners can stand alongside them through generous support.
Your gift today helps ensure:
